Ready to go.

So after all of the planning, the day of departure finally comes tomorrow. And I can’t wait!

Today was spent attending to all manner of details. There was practice at changing a wheel and ensuring that the cowlings held no mysteries about what lay beneath. Then there was the media. The phone started at 7am and everyone from The Courier Mail to ABC Radio and TV Channels 7 and 10 seem interested in ‘There and Back’. Graham Vonhoff from the RFDS joined me to field a number of varied questions. Hopefully all of this interest will convert to donations for this great Australian service.

Finally, I was able to head out to one of my favourite places; the ‘Hinkler Hall of Aviation’. It was after closing but Colleen Foglia kindly allowed me to have a short wander around and take in some ambiance before I set off tomorrow. I was even able to stand near the Avro Baby replica and take a Box Brownie photo before emailing it. A great facility available at the Hall of Aviation.

Now its time for an easy evening before setting off to Longreach. The first step in flying ‘There and Back’.

Great effort Brian, thanks for that.

I haven’t been to Launceston since my Ansett days, so I’m looking forward to finally making it back there. We holidayed there once as well; a truly beautiful spot.

    See you soon!

    Cheers from Longreach!
